I arrived in the UK in 2005, interrupting my chemistry studies in Poland after my third year, with £300 borrowed from friends and family. I was a qualified bartender, and my English was… passable.
I didn't want to work the proverbial dishwashing job, so I cleverly approached a job interview at Edinburgh's famous bar and restaurant, The Dome.
My courage paid off – I got a customer service job. After work, I continued to polish my English so I could start studying in the language. I had always been interested in the stock market and finance – in my free time, I devoured books and other materials on the subject. As soon as my English proficiency was sufficient for university, I enrolled in Business Management with Financial Services at Napier University in Edinburgh.
After graduating, I took a job at an accounting firm. A year later, I began further studies, this time culminating in a Master of Science in Accountancy from Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen. Throughout my studies, I simultaneously managed the accounts for small businesses and self-employed individuals, also teaching them how to handle their taxes. After university, I worked for four years at the UK's NHS – a large and complex organization – in various accounting roles, developing my skills and learning to apply theoretical knowledge in practice.
It was then that I began seriously considering starting my own company, where I could focus on helping businesses and their owners with both corporate and personal finances.
In 2018, I passed the tax advisor exams organized by ATT (the British Association of Taxation Technicians) with excellent results. While I still enjoy general accounting, my passion lies in tax advisory, particularly in the rather complex field of VAT.
I also hold qualifications as a mortgage adviser – I'm not a mortgage broker, but I recognized that mortgages are a crucial element of many people's finances, and I felt I should have an excellent understanding of them.
TaxOne was founded in 2018 and is proof that my approach to client service and education works perfectly. After less than 12 months of operation, at the beginning of 2019, I was already able to hire two people (see above to meet them) – and I hope to continue growing, never losing sight of my principles and values.
I believe that financial education is absolutely fundamental – for entrepreneurs, but also for individuals. I come from a modest family where, even when money was available, we didn't know how to manage it. Hence my motto: "finance without secrets."
I believe I can teach anyone the basics of financial management. If you don't want to delve into the details, you don't have to – I'll simply optimize your accounts.
However, I'm always happy to share my knowledge – without unnecessary complications, unfamiliar jargon, or adopting an "insider" pose.
My guiding principle is honesty. There are many legal, simple ways to optimize taxes and save money – I'm not interested in working with clients who operate on the edge of the law or in "grey areas."
I don't promise rock-bottom prices, but don't fear sky-high ones either. You'll never pay us for something you don't need.
I'm growing the TaxOne team by hiring people who want to help themselves by helping others – according to the best principles proposed by Adam Smith, the Scottish economist, in his classic work "The Wealth of Nations."
I enjoy working with people who live with passion and treat not only clients and suppliers with respect, but above all, their employees.
Money is important – it should be respected, and it should respect us, but it will never be an end in itself for me, and it will never be more important than people. I am inspired by Warren Buffett, Richard Branson, and Suze Orman.

Always meticulous, organised, and helpful – she has a knack for explaining complex matters simply and never leaves clients without answers. Outside of work, Kasia enjoys singing, reading books, and redecorating her apartment, because, just like in accounting, a good balance is key here too.
Over the years, she gained professional experience in Poland and Scotland, coordinating cooperation with business clients, the operations of telemarketing teams, and the work of an online portal.
She takes care of TaxOne's clients, ensures the proper organization of the office's work, and oversees the execution of all company projects.
After work, she values time spent with loved ones, whether traveling or enjoying board games with music in the background.
